Resumo
This article discusses the importance of education in the School Library to make information
accessible to the school community. Task relevant, especially in the present society which is
based on the use of information as a factor of social development, which enables users to
know their rights and duties to the community in which they live. These factors present new
challenges to the School and to the Library, among them the empowerment of the school
community to access, analyse and use the information for the generation of new knowledge,
although the concept of School Library is going through changes, so you can fit the new
educational needs, yet the prevailing notion of such a Library be an instrument of action
learning. The School Library is a stimulating center of culture, information and entertainment.
So, this research describes Libraries of Middle Schools of Education: SIA, College
Amazonense Dom Pedro II, State School Márcio Nery, State School Father Augustine Martin,
State School Professor Reinaldo Thompson, State School Professor Antonio Maurity, State
School Sólon de Lucena, Vincent State School Telles, Marcantonio Vilaça State School and
State Senator John Bosco School, located in the city of Manaus. This is an exploratory study
of stamp, descriptive, which aims to see how the School Libraries repassam environmental
information to the community school. In carrying out the work, interviews were conducted
and used forms, the first being carried out with teachers, librarians, officers and directors of
libraries and schools, the last, applied with the faculty. The data were then analysed and
classified. The results of these analyses have identified that 59% of teachers use the Library of
the School rarely, 45% recognise the achievements general as reasonable and 68% say that in
regard to environmental issues the needs of the school community are not addressed. The
research also indicates that the libraries need for greater disclosure of their activities with their
users, and upgrade of library collections, acquisition of regular and better organization of
materials. Also identified were lack of physical space in libraries studied and qualified
personnel for technical preparation of information, factors that hinder access to information
from its users. The research offers subsidies for the improvement of services offered by
libraries studied in order to provide better quality of care for the school community.
