Amazônia de Glauber Rocha: uma análise do documentário "Amazonas, Amazonas"

Abstract

The present dissertation makes an analysis of the filmic discourse of the short documentary “Amazonas, Amazonas”, directed by Glauber Rocha between the years 1965 and 1966. The film is the result of an order from the Department of Tourism and Promotion, an agency of the state government that wanted to spread the tourist and economic potential of Amazonas in a context of profound political change at the national level. For this, we used documentary and bibliographical sources in order to reconstitute the experience of the director in the region and the social conditions of production of said film. Taking into account the context of cultural and political effervescence of the time, we try to identify wich representations does the film make of Amazonas and the Amazon region.
