Transformações socioespaciais no entorno do Reservatório de Balbina – Presidente Figueiredo (AM)

Abstract

The search for energy and economic development led to brazilian federal government in full period dictatorship military to advance for the north country, where found the great hydroeletric potential present in this region. The UHE Balbina- AM, represents one of the many organized political interventions and implemented as promises of progress for Amazon. The construction it was conceived under various problematics, many of them questioned until today, because ocurred social, environmental and economic modifications in surroundings in the reservoir. This research has intended analyze the transformations ocurred in the surroundings reservoir from power plant Balbina, and has for purpose understand this geographic space. For research was used the geossistemic method using as methodology: field sampling, satellite images for mapmaking, bibliographic and documentary research, and visits to intitutes collaborated with complementary information. Trough search it was possible identify the landscape modifications and the process about to leave Waimiri- atroari people caused for the projetc implementation UHE Balbina, and of course about the new uses and soil ocuppation. The results demonstrate big impacts ocurred the hydroeletric plant construction and implementation, the reservoir water contributed for the new territorialities causing socioespatial transformation.
