Resumo
Bioprospecting is a very efficient sustainable tool for generating economic development. Thus, we will try to answer the following problem: does the bio-perspective activity of Açaí (euterpe oleracea) contribute to the Sustainable Development of the Legal Amazon? This paper aims to demonstrate the importance of the bioprospective activity of Açaí in the Sustainable Development of the Brazilian Amazon. It is a bibliographic, documentary, exploratory, descriptive, qualitative and quantitative research. To this end, data were consulted from the Regional Potentialities Project Report Economic Feasibility Study: Açaí, prepared by SUFRAMA in partnership with Fundação Getúlio Vargas, in addition to other macroeconomic, productive and social data provided by the SIDRA-IBGE® Platform, such as Production of Açaí; CO² emission; and Per capita Household Income Growth; all within the 2007-2017 time frame with slight variations depending on the data, and in five states in the Legal Amazon, namely, AM; PA; AC; MA; AP; besides Brazil as a whole. The entire analysis made in this work is based on five publications by Luiz Saccaro Junior. As a result, there is the bioprospecting of Açaí as an efficient factor in generating wealth, income, and prosperity in the Brazilian Amazon region, in addition to preserving customs, not degrading the environment, and being a typical Amazonian activity. In other words, the bioprospective activity of this fruit significantly generates Sustainable Development in the legal Amazon and its encouragement is necessary.
