Resumo

This study evaluated the occurrence and pattern of oral clinical conditions clusters and the relationship between social position, number of oral clinical conditions and quality of life in children 12 years of age. Of all children data were used in this age who participated in the National Oral Health Survey - SBBrasil Project 2010. The oral conditions were investigated tooth decay (one or more teeth with caries lesion), tooth loss due to caries (one or more missing teeth ), gingivitis (one or more sextants with bleeding on probing) and dental injuries (one or more teeth with trauma). Social status measures included family income, children's education and the number of household goods. Sex, race / skin color and use of dental sevices were considered covariates. Groupings of oral clinical conditions were assessed by the prevalence ratio (PR) and confidence intervals of 95% (95%) between observed and expected values (O / E) of the possible combinations. Multivariate ordinal logistic regression was used to estimate odds ratio (OR) and 95% between social position and the number of oral clinical conditions. The association between social status, number of oral clinical conditions and quality of life was tested employing multivariate Poisson regression to estimate average ratios (MR) and 95%. Tooth decay is the most prevalent oral health (41.5%), followed by gingivitis (26.6%), dental trauma (21.0%) and tooth loss (5.8%). The proportion of three joint oral conditions was 246% higher for dental caries, decay teeth and dental injuries and 71% higher for caries, gingivitis and dental injuries in relation to expected ratio for independent occurrence of these conditions. The combination of 4 oral conditions presented an O / E ratio of 3.98 (95% CI 2.77 to 5.33). Colored children in families with incomes between 501-1500 real and those from families with income below 500 reais had a higher chance of having a larger number of oral clinical conditions. Family income lower than 1501 reais, children's schooling of 5 years or less, male sex, race / color of the Indian and mulatto, time since last dental visit and the number of oral clinical conditions were associated with the highest number of impacts oral health on quality of life. Significant clusters of oral clinical conditions found in children 12 years of age. Sociodemographic and socioeconomic status measures play an important role in the occurrence of oral multimorbidades in children, which in turn influence their quality of life.
