Resumo
The consumption of oranges and the growing disposal of Citrus peels used in the process result in the generation of large amounts of post-extraction vegetable waste. Considering this scenario, it is important that strategies for using and adding value to the residue are considered in the extraction processes. In this context, the aim of this study was to evaluate the chemical composition, insecticidal and antimicrobial activity of the essential oil from the peels of Citrus sinensis (L.) (OE-LJ). The essential oil from the peels of Citrus sinensis was extracted by hydrodistillation in a clevenger for 4 hours and analyzed by Gas Chromatography Coupled with Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). For biological activity, the agar diffusion technique was used against the following strains: Escherichia coli (ATC25922), Enterococcus faecalis (ATCC 29212), Candida albicans (ATCC 10231), Mycobacterium smegmatis (ATCC 14468). Insecticidal bioactivity by fumigation was assessed on adults of Sitophilus oryzae, using limonene (purit
