Dinâmica sócio-ambiental da agricultura familiar na localidade de Jandira, Iranduba, Amazonas

Abstract

This study carried out at the Jandira locality, in the municipality of Iranduba, Amazonas and had as its main objective to analyze the economics and social dynamics of the familiar agriculture. The environment context is the characteristic fertile valley of a seasonally flooded forest ecosystem. It were collected socials, economics and environment data, which are supposedly to be related to the practices adopted by the units of the familiar agriculture. These practices could directly influence to the sustainability of the productive process, as well as the familiar and social community organization. The field research was realized during the year of 2007 and included a case study according to production empirics orientation and the knowledge description. As sources of evidence the open questionary, documentation, structured interviews and direct observation were used. The data analysis evidenced that the family agriculture have knowledge about the accessed and managed environment. This agriculture maintain techniques and handling of the natural resources involved in the productive process, where the cultural inheritance acquired from the native indigenous populations, have a very important role. However, in this Locality, the family agriculture are also absorbing techniques adopted in the conventional agriculture, like the use of chemicals products. Nevertheless, it was observed that the pressure employed on this environment does not affect negatively the sustainability of the process because of natural restrictive and external factors: the seasonality of the fertile valley and the limited integration to the market. Furthermore, to the familiar agriculture, more than simple factors involved in the productive process, the environment keeps symbolic, religious, ethics, behavior and existence values.
