Espaço e tempo na cidade de Manaus: processo de verticalização 1970 a 2010

Abstract

This dissertation presents the spacialization of verticalization in Manaus 1970 to 2010, showing the growth of building construction with superior template to 4 (four) floors from the 1970s, mainly concentrated in the city center. The research identified that the “bomb” of this type of development has only happened in the 2000s, because until the 90s, there were only 100 (one hundred) vertical enterprise in the city, passing the 229 (two hundred twenty-nine) in the 2000s. It was also examined the relationship between economic dynamics and city expansion vectors, and as from Governors’ messages to the Legislative Assembly of the State of Amazonas was possible to trace the history of housing policies employed in the city of Manaus, these policies provided a view of the vectors’ of growth in the city and when linked to the areas of concentration of verticalization, pointed out the neighborhood with the largest number of vertical enterprise until the year 2010. To obtain the initial data it was examined secondary data from the IBGE / AM regarding the amount of buildings, their locations and other information. Then was accomplished, with survey of primary data, which complemented the search to provide the identification of the neighborhood Parque 10 de Novembro as more vertical in the period surveyed. With this data, plus documentary surveys was possible to obtain information that gave subsidy to understand the concentration of vertical projects in the city and relate this process of urban growth of the city.
