Gênero, conflito e violência: trajetórias femininas no romance O alegre canto da perdiz, de Paulina Chiziane

Abstract

This dissertation analyzed the novel O Alegre Canto da Perdiz, by the Mozambican writer Paulina Chiziane. The discussion develops around the characters' lives and the contexts of the relationships between dominators and dominated in which themes of gender, violence, race, assimilation, colonial oppression will be presented. The situations of conflict and violence that arise from gender relations can be used as a basis for social domination, they are aggravated when elaborated within patriarchal and colonial societies. The novel presents the female being in contact with masculinities, and men will have their domination constantly reinforced by the State, family, and culture, but the narrative shows women who break away from these submissive destinies. To deepen the analysis, we resort to the reflections raised by Michel Foucault, Pierre Bourdieu, Judith Butler, Joan Scott, Signe Arnfred, Jaime Ginzburg, Francisco Noa and José Luiz Cabaço.
