From the centrality of the work of social workers with the pandemic, an analytical contextualization of the contemporary transformations in the world of work that occurred in the general scenario and their manifestations for the Social Work professional is carried out. To carry out this analysis, three central analytical categories were chosen: first, contemporary transformations in the world of work; second, professional work of the social worker; and finally, the fundamentals of Social Work. Thus, the general objective is structured in analyzing how the work of the social worker has been developed in state public institutions in Coari-AM, especially in the pandemic period. In this sense, the theoretical-methodological approach used is the perspective of critical social theory, based on a cut in the constitution of the profession in the Brazilian context, from the 1980s onwards. of Coari and for Social Work professionals, as well as for the academic community. In view of this, with the result of the research, it was possible to verify that the professional work of social workers in state public institutions in Coari, Amazonas, was not different from the conditions and labor relations to which the working class in the national context is exposed. Carrying out work for social workers is constituted in the midst of contradictory and moving interests, increasingly demanding a critical attitude from these professionals, a condition that was even more strengthened with the COVID-19 pandemic. In this way, the manifestations that impact the performance of the work of social workers in the state institutions of Coari in the pandemic context are the removal and/or reduction of face-to-face activities, and the predominance of remote work, even so, despite the reduction of activities in face-to-face meetings, during this period there was an increase in the workload of social workers, revealing that the organizational structure of work was altered based on this scenario.
