Eficiência das serrarias em Manaus e Itacoatiara: utilização da norma para comercialização

Abstract

In this study, competitiveness meant performance, good quality products and good acceptance in the national and international market. The main concern on forest resources is that the efficiency of the Brazilian forest sector has been threatened by unsustainable management and slash and burn. The efficiency related to the speed the introduction of new technologies, giving rise to the reduction of the impacts of the high cost of labor and raw materials existing in the country. The qualitative advantages will become increasingly important, and sometimes the only distinctive difference for the future. It becomes clear, that in order to expand market, Brazil should give attention to efficiency in the production, design, introduction of new technologies, professional qualification, training, customer relationship, as well as supply of information. The methodological procedures used consisted of assessing the sawmills which export timber and their timber products regarding sizing, that is, length, width and thickness, and to evaluate the products marketed based on the existing standards for export in two sawmills in the cities of Manaus and Itacoatiara and projects developed by the Coordination Research in Forest Products.
