Comportamentos abusivos e/ou violentos em relacionamentos íntimos a partir da perspectiva de mulheres amazônidas

Resumo

Being a woman means being marked from birth to death by the possibility of dealing with violence, as we live in a patriarchal society where gender-based violence predominates. Violence against women occurs in a variety of contexts, and one of the main forms of violence against women is observed in intimate romantic relationships. This experience makes women vulnerable and has consequences for their physical and, especially, mental health, directly impacting their quality of life. Therefore, it is important to study this topic considering the psychological and health processes experienced by victims of violence, so that the practices of health professionals can be improved to provide better support. Focusing on women in the Amazon also means providing a space for support and attention to the demands of women in the northern region, who have a historical context marked by various forms of violence resulting from the colonization period, which still influences their existence today. In view of this, the general objective of the dissertation was to analyze the experiences of abusive relationships in the lives of Amazonian women. Additionally, the study aimed to: 1. identify the types of violence present in the abusive relationships of the participants; 2. understand the influences of gender dynamics that support the relationship and permanence of the women; 3. describe the effects of a romantic relationship marked by violence on the current lives of the participants. The research followed a qualitative model, and thematic analysis was used to understand the experiences of the participants. As a result, intense psychological and physical violence was observed, which led to several harms in the current lives of the participants. Additionally, the participants remained in the violent relationships due to the influence of maternal and romantic gender dynamics.
