Introduction: The university context undoubtedly emerges as a fertile environment to exert an adverse influence on students' lifestyle and mental health. Elements that include an excessive burden of academic obligations, the daily distance traveled between home and university, full dedication to some undergraduate courses, pressures emanating from both the family and educational spheres, financial difficulties and short time for leisure, All of these factors constitute aspects that can negatively influence Lifestyle and mental health, which can result in a worsening of quality of life and the presence of Common Mental Disorders. Objective: To analyze the lifestyle and factors associated with the development of Common Mental Disorder among university students. Method: This is a cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, which sought to use an associative methodology to examine the existence of a relationship or association between sociodemographic profile, lifestyle and the presence of Common Mental Disorder. Results: Of the 427 participants, 72.60% (n=310) scored positive for the presence of Common Mental Disorder, 74.8% (n=232) prevailed in females, in the group with the presence of the disorder, they judged the health condition “improving” 43.5% (n=135) and “regular” 38.7% (n=120). Regarding the presence of any disease, among those who scored positive for the common mental disorder, 77.4% (n=240) had other comorbidities while 22.6% (n=70) did not. When comparing the presence of Common Mental Disorder with the score of the Fantastic Lifestyle questionnaire (overall and domains), it can be observed that those students whose score is closest to a bad lifestyle (61 points) also score for presence of mental disorder. Conclusion: The presence of common mental disorders was significant in the sample, showing an association with sociodemographic characteristics and lifestyle. It should be noted that there is a need for greater knowledge about the profile of university students and the search for other factors that may be influencing the presence of Common Mental Disorder in this population.
