Resumo
The cycles comprise an innovative curriculum that aims to improve the quality of
education taking into account the student's learning from their cognitive and
biological focus and entering a more qualitative assessment. However, the cycles are
proposals that, when put into practice, generates criticism and questioning, since
abolishing retention and ultimately fail the student does not get a satisfactory
learning. The issue of implementation of cycles is a significant issue of relevance to
the field of education, considering that there was some interruption in relation to
yields on theoretical discussions about experiences involving the deployment cycles
in education. Based on this context, the research aims to analyze how was the
process of implementation and system interrupt cycles of municipal schools in the
city of Manaus. Therefore it was necessary to establish an approach of how to set up
this education policy in Brazil and some concepts and reasoning to its intrinsic
theoretical assumptions. The deployment of the organization of teaching cycles in
Manaus ran from 2004 to 2008, and was established by Resolution No. 04 of May
20, 2004 by the City Council of Education that determines the guidelines for
pedagogical proposal of the Municipal Education (SEMED) from Manaus, entitled
"Pedagogical Organization Elementary Cycles in Human Formation". From these and
other documents arising from this Secretariat was able to analyze some issues
relevant to teaching in cycles, such as the role of the student and the teacher as
subject of the process of transmission and assimilation of knowledge, knowledge
arising out of the school that is presented to the context of this process as a simple
object easy to understand and, therefore, should be questioned and verified, the
curriculum and assessment. Methodological procedures, we used the search and
document analysis from the material given by the Municipal Education (SEMED) from
Manaus. Also made use of literature search of books, theses and dissertations, to
deepen the theoretical discussion on the topic of Education, Education and Public
Policy.
