Resumo

A mixture of elemental powders of Cu and Sb in the atomic proportion 2:1 was produced by mechanical alloying. Their properties were studied using X-ray diffraction, Rietveld method and Raman spectroscopy. After 4 h of milling, the measured X-ray diffraction pattern shows the nucleation of a nanostructured tetragonal Cu2Sb phase, The structural parameters were refined by Rietveld method using GSAS package. The values of crystallite average size and microstrain were also obtained. The Raman spectroscopy measurements allowed observing all active modes for Cu2Sb structure, hitherto not reported in the literature. A comparison with other compound belonging to the same space group allowed the identification of these modes. The Raman spectroscopy measures revealed the presence of small amount of crystalline antimony (Sb) undetected by X-ray diffraction.
