Desempenho operacional de uma serraria de médio porte no município de novo Aripuanã, Amazonas

Abstract

Wood is a material that has been widely used by mankind throughout history. In Brazil, which is country rich in native forests, it coexists with the exploitation of these resources, sometimes in a non-rational way. The sawmills in the south of the Amazon play a very important role in socio-economic development generating jobs, income and giving dignity to the workers. Despite their importance, sawmills generally waste much of the wood in the form of saw dust and other by-products of the debris. This is due to a number of factors such as technological level of machinery and equipment, lack of skilled labor and characteristics related to the species itself such as diameter, presence of xylophages and wood defects. In order to analyze the operational performance of a sawmill located in the municipality of Novo Aripuanã, Southern Amazonas, a study was carried out to evaluate if Volumetric Yield Coefficient (CRV) is higher than that proposed by resolution 474/2016 of CONAMA, and also verify the efficiency of the sawing process in the sawmill. The study showed that the CRV of the Iguaçu sawmill is 42.93%, that is, 7.93 percentage points higher than that proposed by the regulations. It was observed that the average yield of the Cupiúba species presented extremely strong evidences of being different from the red Angelim, Copaíba alligator and cumaru, very strong evidences of being different from the Cedrorana and strong evidences of being different from the Tauari Vermelho and Roxinho. The average efficiency of the debris found was 0.311278 ± 0.025407 m³ / operator / day and there were no significant differences between the observed means between the species. The study concluded that the estimated volumetric efficiency of the Iguaçu sawmill located in the municipality of Novo Aripuanã, southern Amazonas, is higher than that established by the resolution of CONAMA 474/2016, exceeding 7.93 percentage points.
