Resumo
Education in the elementary school stage plays a fundamental role in the cognitive and
social development of children, providing the necessary foundations for academic and
personal success throughout life. Identifying difficulties at this stage can bring multiple
benefits to children, assisting them in their learning and overall development. Learning
disabilities pose significant challenges in the educational process, affecting the
acquisition of academic and socioemotional skills, requiring specialized interventions
and appropriate support to maximize the potential of affected individuals.
Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) is a condition that affects a person's
ability to coordinate motor movements, potentially significantly impacting their daily
activities, education, and quality of life, necessitating specific therapeutic and
educational approaches. The Amazon region, rich in territorial expanse, its ecosystem,
and water sources, contributes to the maintenance of life on the planet Earth. However,
the region faces multiple challenges related to intense interaction with nature. Thus,
the objective of this work is to discuss the higher prevalence of DCD in Amazonas,
when compared to national and international levels. The choice of this topic is justified
by the relevance of early identification of learning disorders to maximize children's
opportunities for full development. The relationship between the Human Development
Index (HDI) of the Amazonas state and the prevalence of DCD in its population is
questioned. Through a literature review, it is evident that the prevalence of DCD in the
Amazon region is higher when compared to national and global levels, linked to its low
performance in the HDI
