Ciência na rede: popularização da ciência no canal Nerdologia

Resumo

This research studies YouTube channel called Nerdologia as space for popularizationof science in digital social networks environment. In it, the notion of popularization of science based on the reflexive sense of Communication proposed by Huergo [2001?] and its construction from the struggles of social movements and people’s demands (GERMANO, 2011, 2005). Digital social networks are studied in a line of reflection that includes the conception of the concept of network in broad sense, inserted in the biological and social field, and understanding the network as a structuring model of digital communication technologies. We adopt the perspective of the Communicational Ecosystems in order to understand Nerdologia as a network of relationships in cyberspace. The research study methods integrate the Netnography, for an approximation of the communicational phenomenon, the quantitative analysis, from the monitoring and data collection of 60 episodes from the channel, and the qualitative analysis of two specific episodes, with the construction of conversation maps. The results show that Nerdologia is an experience of occupation from the digital social networks environment that promotes the popularization of science exploring the universe of nerd culture to address topics of science and technology in a dynamic, light and close to everyday life of your audience. The interactive spaces present in the channel represent opportunities to dialogue exercise through debate and public participation, fundamental elements for the approximation between science and society.
