Resumo
The establishment of the Manaus Free Trade Zone in 1967 to meet the globalization of international capital, anchored in fiscal incentives, attracts companies from the two-wheel sector. Since the 1990s, with the economic opening of the government to the installation of multinational industries with economic-fiscal advantages, incentive to motorization with direct consumer credit and the absence of collective public transport policies, the motorcycle industry consolidates in the PIM. In order to investigate the everyday life of the city of Itacoatiara from the consumption of this merchandise and to evaluate the influences on urban life, research was carried out in government agencies, portals of motorcycle manufacturers to know how much production, sales and chain of suppliers upstream, and in works already published in the study area. For primary data, field surveys were carried out with application of forms and direct observation at the Honda dealership, authorized resellers, parts stores, service providers connected to the downstream supply chain, as well as drivers of motorcycles, passengers and pedestrians. The hypothesis raised is that the globalized consumption of the motorcycle induces economic and social changes in the city of Itacoatiara. The guiding question of this research is to know how this consumption interferes in daily life. The results obtained indicate that there was an increase in the fleet of motorcycles, which in 2005 was 5,286 motorcycles, ending the year 2016 on 17,149 motorcycles. The number of drive licenses in all categories in the municipality in the same year, is only 9,109 qualified, reaching a percentage of 53.12% of qualified in relation to the motorcycle fleet. The number of traffic accidents in 2005 was 383 and in 2016 closed with 2,202 traffic accidents by motorcycle. The results point a change in the urban life and the need for urban planning, municipal education policy in traffic, consolidation of data among government agencies to improve information and more effective action of the municipal transit authority regarding supervision.
