A poesia de Thiago de Mello na perspectiva do pensamento ecocrítico

Abstract

This study analyzes the poetry of Thiago de Mello in the context of the approach to socio-cultural processes in the Amazon. The analysis is intertwined in the threads of interdisciplinarity in a dialogue between Literature, Philosophy and Anthropology. The research seeks to verify how the encounter between Thiago de Mello's poetry and ecocritical thinking takes place, seeking to point out contributions to think about socioenvironmental issues in the Amazon. With the identification of the elements of the rivers, the waters and the composition of the landscape in dialogue with Ecocritical Thought, we have dimensioned how the Amazon social and environmental problematic is portrayed in the poet's literature. The methodology, anchored in the rhizomatic perspective of knowledge, follows a trail of interviews along with a comparison of data in the work Amazonas, home of the water of the poet under analysis. The rhizomatic perspective is accompanied by other sources such as music, poems, photographs and images in order to give light to the object of study. The main results reveal that the representation of Amazonia, in the poet's work, is embraced within an ethical principle of responsibility and environmental concern in the effort to bring literature closer to ecological awareness. Although some ideas still show flashes inherited from aesthetic models of the exotic and edenist of an invented Amazon built on the formation of Brazilian literature, the poet's literature starts from an ethical orientation with Amazonian nature. These imaginary processes of the poet, come from the ecological perspective, as well as from Orientalism as an invention of the West in the demarcation of boundaries between the primitive and the civilized, natural and urban that denoted the separation between man and nature, and their romanticization. The research reveals that there is an approximation of his poetry with ecocritical thought from the 1980s, in the third and fourth moment of his thought, when the poet combines scientific and ecological notions with literary aesthetic ways in the approximation of the linguistic sign with the conscience ecological. Our analysis weaves a deterritorializing critique of anthropocentrism, demonstrating that even in the literature of the late twentieth century, such as that of the poet under analysis, traces, remnants and lines of a vision of the wonderful, exotic, and that of the natural world as literary matter still persist . Finally, one must recognize the importance of Thiago de Mello's poetry in boosting the ecological crisis and its social role in raising awareness for the preservation of nature and the ecological balance of the Earth. Their conceptions, linked to the sublime representation of the forest, trace a path of affection, care for the human and non-human lives that live in the Amazon.
