Resumo

This research sought to analyze the impact of social networks and social capital on environmental governance. First, I discuss the concept of analysis of social networks and social capital, seeking to identify their relationship and the basis for their influence on environmental governance. Data collection was carried out in the Rio Negro Sustainable Development Reserve (RDS) through sociometric questionnaires. The sample was obtained through the research technique known as snowballing (snowballing), in which a group of individuals is selected to answer the questionnaire and is asked to indicate other names, until the moment when repetitions of the indicated names. The results point to a governance network formed by 220 actors. Of this total, 164 residents were interviewed, where it was possible to map the connection network and the characteristics of each resident's relationship with both the internal and external organization. The results of the network analysis allowed to point out protagonists and degree of domination, while social capital points to actors that can be understood with values obtained by being part of a determined social network with reputation and greater visibility than other actors.
