Sustentabilidade ambiental e caracterização socioeconômica de um assentamento rural no sul do Amazonas

Resumo

This work aimed to investigate the socioeconomic characterization of the settlement and to characterize the level of environmental sustainability of the São Francisco Settlement, in Canutama-AM. The methodology used was the application of questionnaires to the heads of local families, and for the interpretation of the results, multicriteria analysis was used through analysis of context, structuring and evaluation. The results show that only a small percentage of the lots have their residents present in the place, many are paying caretakers to take care of the place or transferring their land, as the lack of assistance and inspection are leaving large gaps. Of those who live in the area, 68% are from Rondônia; 36% live from family farming, with an average salary of 1 to 3 minimum wages. Extractivism is minimally present among the research participants; 76% of the ecosystems present among the lots have their top forest preserved, but along the roads it is possible to see the deforestation present in large open fields for raising cattle or planting. In this way, it can be seen that the community members who have adapted to this region, like the lifestyle and have a certain self-sustainability, some work in extractivism, others sell the locally produced product to neighbors and in a few cases, there are sales to buyers in the city. . Families produce cupuaçu, açaí, cassava, guarana for sale, and raise for consumption such as pork and some poultry. There is a balanced presence between the genders of the heads of families, which are composed of up to 6 people; 64% are married, 64% consider themselves brown, and 35% have incomplete elementary school. Most of the interviewees have been in the settlement project for a maximum of 5 years, which does not allow us to know the future of this settlement.
