Resumo
This research entitled The meanings constructed by the children of the riverside
children's education in Manaus had as main objective to understand the meanings
constructed by the small children in the educational processes that characterize their
experiences in the infantile education of a municipal public school riverside of
Manaus. In order to reach this goal, it was necessary to know the socio-cultural
context of the community where young children live, to identify the school
experiences offered to them in the riverside school, and to investigate the
instruments that permeate the universe of children in relation to their school
experiences. The methodology, with a qualitative approach, consisted of documental
analysis, participant observation and semi-structured interview with the small children
of the children's education. The school where the research was carried out is located
in the Nova Esperança Community, Igarapé do Tiú, Tarumã Açú River, in the
ribeirinha area of Manaus, and is the place where collective life favors the
interactions of the children in group and activity under the guidance of the teacher,
being an environment that receives influences from sociocultural conditions
constantly. Once understood that these situations contribute to their learning and
development process, it is possible to attribute meanings in their space in the school
and re-significances of the interaction in the educational process. The historicalcultural
theory, the theoretical foundation of this research, brings us the
understanding of the process of human development under the conditions of life and
education of the individual, and not as a result only of biological factors. With this
vision, this theory seeks the emancipation of the subject, through developmental
education, wave each individual is protagonist of his learning and development
process. For Vygotsky, knowledge occurs in a dialectical relationship between the
subject mediated by signs and instruments. Signs are socially constructed by culture
and internally oriented. The instruments serve as the guiding way of human influence
on the object of the activity. By appropriating signs, the child expresses his language
and organizes his thoughts. Therefore, according to the results of this research, for
children in riverside education, considering that each child has a context in the rural
riverside area, is to understand that children are composed of different experiences
and demand other experiences generated from the specific cultural dynamics . Within
historical-cultural theory this means that it is impossible to think of a generalized
description of the ways of educating. The children's universe at school and the social
relations involving small children in the riverside area - the Amazon region - can be
considered as a demonstration to become a subject for new scientific investigations.
