Resumo
The present work presents a discussion about the religious influence of the indigenous pajelança, and of the Catholicism in the Umbanda in the municipality of Parintins / Am. The delimitation of the research came from anxieties about understanding the religious influences in Umbanda, knowing what healing knowledge and practices of indigenous pajelanism are present in the celebrations, its relationship with Catholic saints, and at what time of celebration it is possible to perceive religious hybridization. We read in the readings the black presence in the Lower Amazon, which reaffirm their passage through the city. In order to carry out this study, we support the work of Roger Bastide (1960), João Luiz Carneiro (2014), Eduardo Galvão (1976), Oyama Cesar Ituassú (1981) and others. We use ethnographic procedures to understand the different aspects that involve the influence of indigenous pajelança and Catholicism in Umbanda, for this the importance of the connections to the locus of the research. Currently, Umbanda has gained greater visibility in the city, especially in the folkloric festival, building its space in a predominantly Catholic city. The need to use ethnographic procedures is due to the search for a closer look at reality. Being the space of the terreiro a place invisibilizado, being hidden in the back of the residences, that little by little is going out to the street, presenting itself as part of the religion of a town that helped in the historical construction of the city, and to perceive these influences, it helps us to understand the process of formation of the city and Umbanda.
