Resumo
This research, entitled AFFIRMATIVE ACTIONS AND THE BLACK POPULATION IN AMAZONAS: An analysis of the Law of quotas in the pedagogy course at the Federal University of Amazonas, 2018-2022, derives from an analysis carried out on the quota policy specifically for the black population within Ufam, focusing on the Pedagogy course. However, the research covers several pertinent scenarios regarding affirmative action and ethnic-racial issues, being carried out in a qualitative way, with bibliographical and documentary research and analysis of laws, aiming to delve deeper into the normative frameworks listed in the work. Its general objective was to analyze how the process of implementing Affirmative Actions took place within the framework of the quota law in Brazil and in the academic context of the Pedagogy course at the Federal University of Amazonas. Specific objectives: understand the historical context that permeates the black population in Brazil; identify the public policies and contexts that preceded the implementation of the quota law in Brazilian higher education institutions; study how the implementation of the hetero-identification committee occurred at Ufam; understand how ethnic-racial issues are structured in the Pedagogy course. We also had the following questions as a research problem: how do Affirmative Actions collaborate with democratization to overcome inequality in higher education? Does the Quota Law at the Federal University of Amazonas have a monitoring system to ensure the smoothness of the process? In this sense, this research sought to understand the educational contexts that permeate the black and brown (black) population today, in the face of Affirmative Actions at the Federal University of Amazonas. The research brings essential elements to understanding the contexts that permeate quotas, the normative frameworks that preceded them, as well as the importance of establishing the hetero-identification committee at the university. We conclude that from the entire survey carried out during the dissertation, the implementation of law no. 12,711/12 was essential for expanding the democratization of higher education, allowing the black population to enter universities more significantly. We identified through the PPC of the Pedagogy course the importance of addressing ethnic- racial issues in the same as well as their implementation in the curriculum. Highlighting and overcoming the false belief of the non-existence of a black population in Amazonas. Strengthening black collectives in Amazonas.
