Resumo
With the process of creating the Province of Amazonas in 1850 , the first
Amazonians newspapers appeared , and in the decades that followed, were published
about 141 journals . Our study in order to analyze the production of these journals
arising between 1851 to 1889 , corresponding to phase imperial period . We seek to
establish the role played by these journals in Amazonian society and also establish the
relationships between them , and with them the life of the city and its inhabitants .
Producers of newspapers began to define their spaces in Amazonian society now at this
moment . The city came to light through the newspapers published reports and
complaints on their pages . Among the features presented by the newspapers have the
critical position in relation to society and the government , a fact that motivated the
actions of censorship newspaper producers . Disagreements between the organs of the
press was also a factor in this period. Was still concern in this paper to draw a profile of
our readers in this process of incorporation of the Press . Is also present in this paper an
immersion in the trajectory of the newspapers Commercio Amazon and the Amazon ,
two major newspapers and mass circulation period.
