Resumo
In order to obtain technical, economic and environmental benefits, this research
developed a study of the production of cement plates reinforced with long fibers of malva and
assessed their physical and mechanical behavior. The motivation to work with this fiber is its
large-scale offer, low cost and results already satisfactory in other studies, which are minutely
prepared, treated and characterized. And to ensure no deterioration of these fibers made the
use of ground ceramic waste, cement replacement part in the matrix, producing a paste free of
free calcium hydroxide contributing to the protection of the fiber. Furthermore, to reduce
water absorption and consequent reduction of the dimensional variation of the fiber, it is also
used hornification treatment and sealing varnish base. In the production of this composite
were used superplasticizer, medium sand, Portland cement (CP II 32-F) and water. With these
plates were produced using acrylic formwork of 40x40x1cm. For the analysis of the
mechanical properties, it was necessary to carry out tests of tensile stress, bending four points
and three point bending. From the results, it can be concluded that the composite that showed
the best results in terms of physical and mechanical characteristics was the one produced with
hornificadas mallow fibers and coated with varnish and replacement of 30% of cement by
ceramic waste, which showed elastic modulus 22.3 GPa, tensile strength of 23 MPa, and
rupture modulus of 38.6 MPa.
