Resumo
Some athletics events such as running, jumping, throwing and throwing were already known movements in prehistory for the purpose of survival. In the school context, athletics proves to be a successful physical education content, involving male and female students in various physical events, enabling everyone to participate and respecting their biological individualities, making it possible to adapt to different school environments. Therefore, the objective of the study was to verify how teachers approach the content of athletics in schools that are part of the East Zone 2 district division in the final years of Elementary School. Twenty-seven physical education teachers who teach in the final years of elementary school participated in this study. The instrument used was an adapted questionnaire with 6 questions, of which 3 questions were open and the other 3 were closed and we used Discursive Textual Analysis (ATD) to analyze the data from which 2 categories emerged: Material Resources and Athletics Evidence from which teachers described which tests they covered within their school reality. We concluded that teachers approach athletics content at school using the resources at their disposal and making various space adaptations for the development of athletics events in the school context, however, it was observed that tests that require a little more technical use were left aside by teachers, resulting in a need for a pedagogical resource such as a guide, for example, in order to guide future planning for the development of school athletics.
