As quadrilhas juninas e suas transformações culturais nos festivais folclóricos em Boa Vista - Roraima (2001-2011)

Abstract

folk groups from June Festivals in Boa Vista, capital of the State of Roraima, in the period from 2001 to 2011. The square dance contests in Boa Vista began in 1980, but they gained greater visibility since 2001 when they began to receive funding from the state government and from City Hall. In general, it is observed that traditional cultural practices festive over the decade studied had changes in relation to a spectacularly dimension the event, which can be viewed in multiple ways, such as dance, music, dress and allegory. The methodology includes literature, field research and ethnographic records of multiple cultural aspects involved in the event, as well as semi-structured interviews, to provide data for understanding the transformation process of the groups participating in the contests. The analysis takes as reference three folk groups, with the purpose of revealing elements that influenced the changes and how they are associated with the cultural dynamics of square dances
