Produção e comercialização do tucumã (Astrocaryum Aculeatum G. Mey) na Comunidade São José Operário, Colônia Amanari (Urucará/AM)

Abstract

The tucumanzeiro (Astrocaryum aculeatum) is a non-domesticated species belonging to the Arecaceae family. Its exploitation is almost exclusively extractive, with great potential. It adapts to different environments and its fruit is highly appreciated by the population of the Amazon region, being consumed in natura form. This study aimed to analyze the production system and commercialization of tucumã in the São José Operário Community, belonging to the municipality of Urucará-AM. The problem of this research emphasizes the role of the production, distribution and commercialization of this fruit. However, there are few studies on the practice of this activity in the region that show the unfolding of these workers. The management and use of this product represents an alternative source of income for many families in rural Amazonia. Thus, this problem is presented as follows: How does the collection of tucumã contribute to the local socioeconomic development in the São José Operário Community, located in the municipality of Urucará, Amazonas? 20% of the community's residents were interviewed, using forms containing open and closed questions, with questions focused on aspects of the tucumã management system and the commercialization process in the community. Data were tabulated using Excel 2010, analyzed using descriptive statistics and presented through tables and graphs.
