Heurísticas para aprimorar o método BMW e suas variantes

Abstract

Several research efforts have been conducted in the literature to develop methods to reduce the cost of query processing in search engines. This research aims to propose modifications to improve the performance of the block-Max WAND (BMW) algorithm, one of the most efficient algorithms proposed previously. The BMW algorithm uses heuristics to discard the documents entries at query processing, which makes it extremely fast. In this dissertation, we propose and evaluate additional heuristics to improve the perfomance of BMW and your variant BMW-CS in an attempt to both further reduces query processing times and the amount of memory required for processing queries.
