A notícia ganha uma nova face: Fotografia de Imprensa em Manaus (1880-1920)

Abstract

The photograph was already present in the Amazon region even before the implementation of the Press in the Amazon in 1851. Almost thirty years after the circulation of the first newspapers, the press enjoys consolidation, allowing advances as much as do press, and in the used equipment to compose the newspapers. Thus, the study proposed here is in the sense of thinking about photography as news element. It was also concern research, understand which changes in the composition of the journals were afforded by inserting the images on the news of daily newspapers from the use, first of illustrations, until the advent of press photography as a means of information used by Periodicals to compose and support the news published. We also seek to establish the role played by photography in these journals as well as realize what kinds of images and reports were further explored by these publications, as well as checking the work of photographers as subjects that recorded the city, according to the demands of the facts.
