Resumo
The aim of this study was to evaluate the importance of learning about the life of native
stingless bees, as a didactic resource to raise awareness of students of the High School Course
in Agriculture of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Amazonas -
IFAM, located in the city Coari-AM, and contribute to the conservation of native bees,
through a Didactic Sequence (SD). Native bees are excellent as a teaching tool, as they attract
attention, instigate teenagers' curiosity and are related to the concepts involved in
environmental education. DS activities were planned following the principle of
interdisciplinarity. Questionnaires were applied with open questions to verify the students'
prior knowledge about native bees. The results were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively.
To verify the differences in student performance before and after the application of SDs, the
non-parametric Wilcoxon test (p value = 1%) was used, since the samples are paired. All
statistical analyzes were performed using the REALSTATISTICS statistical package. The
following Didactic Sequences were applied with the themes: Knowing the theme Native bees
and Environmental Education, workshops with bees, ecological trail and the photography
contest. The application of SDs assessed the effectiveness and challenges of this type of
learning. After applying the learning instrument in a didactic sequence format, it substantially
increased the way students understand and understand environmental education and
conservation of native stingless bees, in the interdisciplinary training process of students from
the technical course in Agriculture at IFAM Coari campus.
