Resumo

In this work we present the use of a tangible learning object to concept apprehension in Geometry and analysis of its contributions for concept development and/or construction related to polygon classification and planar figure area based upon on the competence and abilities set as defined in PCN and BNCC for 7th year students. This study is based on meaningful learning theory by David Ausubel, where new concepts must be anchored to previous knowledge relevant to the learner cognitive structure and on contributions of Seymour Papert's constructionism, in which technology is seen as a tool for concept construction should happen in activities of student interest. The methodology used was essentially qualitative. Data collection used questionnaires, direct observation and filming during experimentation with specific didactic sequences, including a case study in a public school of Manaus. Data categorization was based on Bardin´s theory of contents analysis, that was also used to present and discuss results.
