Resumo
Art in education has the power to transform the individual and helps him to make an encounter with the creative self, spontaneous and authentic. Education as an aesthetic and artistic experience is intended to awaken the sensitivity of everyone involved in the process, whether students, teachers, managers or school employees. They must be elevated to the status of creators of meanings, subjects willing to assume varied forms of expressive and enunciative authorship. It is in art that the qualifications necessary for the renewal of educational practices must be sought (ANDRADE, 2016). Despite not having an aesthetic nature, art therapy moves the individual's internal art and creates a parameter of expressiveness with what is visual. Art therapy is when artistic resources are used in favor of health: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual and taking art therapy to schools has a way of working the visual arts in favor of emotional intelligence, developing creative processes with students. The objective of this research is to make the student the author of his own creations, taking into account his theoretical and empirical knowledge, his emotions, his history, expressing his reflections on art and socializing with the school environment. The issue revolves around the following question: how does art therapy develop in the school context? The pre-established methodology is action research, with a bibliographical and field survey, pedagogical workshops and work exhibition. The results were consistent with the objectives of this research and within these parameters, it was possible to link art, through abstract painting, with the benefits of art therapy, highlighting among them the ability to manage emotions, overcome trauma, reduce stress and anxiety and increased self-esteem. It is concluded that art is liberating and brings to those who seek it emotional comfort and welcome above all, a new way of dreaming and dealing with everything that surrounds the mind. The research was carried out in 2022, with students of the night shift, with 6 classes of the 9th stage of the EJA, at the Antônio Encarnação Filho State School, in the West Zone of the city of Manaus.
