This thesis entitled Study of Sociocultural Relations and Tourism as an Economic Activity among Communities of the Rio Negro Sustainable Development Reserve (RDS Rio Negro), included as part of the studies the primary research, has led to research into the sociocultural process created by tourism activity in the supposed existence of community based tourism or community tourism in six RDS communities. The theoretical approach and methodology of the thesis mobilized several authors and studies on the Amazon and Rio Negro, such as Samuel Benchimol, Cândido de Melo Leitão, Fr. João Daniel, Alexandre Rodrigues Ferreira, Arthur Cézar Ferreira Reis, Neide Gondim, Marilene Corrêa da Silva Freitas among others. And authors who have written about protection, environmental conservation and the importance of socioeconomic development for traditional populations, such as Charles Wagley, Armando Dias Mendes, Betty Jane Meggers, Gláucio Campos Gomes de Matos, Amélia Regina Nogueira, Vivian Zeidemann, Antonio Carlos Diegues and others. With the important contribution Norbert Elias (1990) and the figurative sociology, which implies the functional interdependence of the subjects, was a guide to understanding and interpreting the results of this research. And Hassan Zaoual (2005) with the situated development theory, which made possible the formulation of the intervention proposal, categorized as collaborative tourism. Field research was based on the legal and theoretical precepts that guide community-based tourism (TBC) and community tourism (TC) and as a result of the analysis allowed us to identify that there is no TBC or TC in the communities surveyed. This understanding was comprehensible in the construction of a framework with the main ideas of tourism, community based tourism and the field. Ahead of the result, we proposed a strategic development model for collaborative tourism supported by the figurative bias, in which networks of functional interdependencies are responsible for the collaborative participation of the actors involved in the quest to provide quality of life for the community, is the figuration.
