O trabalho profissional no poder judiciário: um estudo sobre a instrumentalidade no trabalho do assistente social no TJ/AM

Abstract

The theme of the social worker's professional work is an extremely necessary object of study in scientific research, considering that the societal changes have historically influenced the profession's way of acting and thinking and, consequently, have impacted its instrumentality. It is important to highlight that the social-legal area is configured as one of the first social-occupational spaces for social workers in Brazil, since Social Service formally begins its work in this area in the 1940s. Since then, the intervention of this professional has been expanding to several sectors of the Judiciary, which currently employs a significant number of social workers. The discussion about the professional work in the socio-juridical area in the literature is still recent, since the research involving this area has intensified since the 2000s, which demonstrates the need for more studies focused on the work of Social Service, especially linked to the discussion of instrumentality. Therefore, the goal of this study is to analyze the work of the social worker in the Court of Amazonas, in the city of Manaus, focusing on the instrumentality in the professional exercise facing the users' demands. For this, it elected as specific objectives: to characterize the professional work of the social worker in the sectors of the TJ/AM; to understand how the instrumentality is expressed in the professional work of social workers in the TJ/AM and to reflect on the challenges and possibilities of action of the Social Service in the TJ/AM facing the demands of users. The research is configured as explanatory, being guided by the historical-dialectical materialism as a method of reality analysis. The study was developed through bibliographic research around the theme of the socio-juridical area. The documental research was done through the online collection of the work instruments of 7 sectors that make up the Court of Justice of Amazonas, as well as the selection of abstracts presented at the I Symposium of Social Service in the socio-legal area of Amazonas. The study allowed us to identify that the social worker has an important role in the TJ/AM, as he/she integrates interdisciplinary teams in the sectors of the institution, working on the elaboration of reports, expertise and social opinions that subsidize the decision-making process of judges. Moreover, it was observed the creation of new spaces aimed at conciliation and mediation, which enable social workers to play an important role in these new modalities of action. We also highlight that the professional daily routine is full of challenges that invite professionals to a constant critical reflection about their professional work.
