Making use of individual or collective knowledge, with the application of local resources, to solve collective problems creatively, simply and efficiently, corresponds to a thought that refers to the evolutionary history of humanity itself and to times when man survived directly from natural resources available. This line of thought, concerned with the use of knowledge to solve collective problems, may today be represented by the concept of Social Technology (TS), which, through techniques and methodologies appropriate to the demanding population, seeks to improve the living conditions of its beneficiaries , promoting its reapplication in different environments and areas, where it will generally be readapted to new contexts. The Amazon, due to its geographic and environmental specificity, with majestic forests and grandiose rivers, has particularities in its human habitat, especially in rural areas where access to goods and services, as well as the guarantee of social rights, is generally restricted and insufficient, especially related to public health. In this context, the technician in medicinal plants, Moacir Tadeu Biondo, conceived and developed a practice called "Mounting the Landscape of Knowledge" (MPC), which aims to recognize, value and protect traditional knowledge about the use of medicinal plants in the treatment of health problems. Due to this reality, the present study had as general objective to analyze if the MPC can be considered as a Social Technology appropriate to Amazonian riverside communities. For this purpose, the MPC was carried out in 2016 in an Amazonian riverside community in the rural area of Caapiranga-AM, developed in partnership with Moacir technician and an interdisciplinary group composed of members of the Psychology and Social Work courses of the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM). We opted for a strategy of triangulation of quantitative and qualitative methods that enabled a dialogue between the analyzes and the results from objective and subjective questions. The quantitative data were analyzed by the electronic tool SATECS / ITS and for the qualitative the Content Analysis was used. The results of this research correspond to the MPC / 2016 registration and to the consideration that from this activity a new knowledge was created, constructed from the dialogue between the traditional knowledge and the technical-scientific knowledge, on the use of medicinal plants in the treatment of health problems. From Community Psychology, we sought to understand the way of life of the São Thiago riverside community and the implications of the MPC / 2016 in recognizing, valuing and protecting the traditional knowledge of this community. We conclude that MPC / 2016 can be considered as a Social Technology and, on the other hand, that studies on the complex way of life of the Amazonian riverside community aggregate information of interest for future studies in the area of Social Psychology and the adequacy of contextualized public policies and integrated with the local reality.
