Resumo
The tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) and a species that has a good growth potential, high productivity, adaptation to different cultivation systems and a wide acceptance among the population, especially as one of the most important fish species in the regional economy. The determination of the feeding system to different fish species is critical to achieving efficient production. Therefore, choosing the best level of feeding is of great importance for the success of the enterprise of farming, as it influences the performance of the animal, because it is directly related to the feeding by fish. Mathematical models can be valuable tools for estimating the requirements of the animal within a production system, and can provide information that can be used in the process of decision making to improve production efficiency. However there is little research using mathematical models having information needs to improve growing conditions and increase the economic return of activity, this study aimed to evaluate the economic indices, husbandry and feed management tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) using mathematical model of growth. We tested two ways of handling, the first using the traditional model of feeding and other mathematical model of growth to 3% of the biomass using eight semi-excavated ponds measuring 40x80 without water renewal. The experiment was conducted in randomized for independent samples, with 02 (two) and 04 treatments (four) replications, totaling eight (08) experimental units using five thousand fish each over a period of 120 days. We evaluated the growth performance, limnological analyzes and economic indices, where the results showed no significant difference in limnological analyzes between the two treatments. The indexes showed significant difference in final weight, biomass gain and feed intake. The economic analysis showed that the mathematical model of growth had a much better economic return compared with the traditional model of feeding.
