Subjetividade e trabalho com juta e malva: um estudo em Manacapuru/AM

Abstract

The world of work and its complex relationship with subjective dimension of the human work have been the target of many researchers’ interests in scientific field. For that matter, this study is proposing to be a contribution about these discussions, high lightening the need to think of work through a comprehensive way, focusing in the subjective speeches. Therefore, the primary concern of this research is to comprehend how the experiences of suffering at work are composed in the work of jute and mauve producers at Ilha do Supiá, Ilha do Marrecão e Costa da Cabaleana locations in the County of Manacapuru, state of Amazonas. The theoretical approach chosen is the Psychodynamics of Work by Christophe Dejours. Regarding the methodological aspects, the semi-structured interview was the chosen instrument of data collection. The analytical method will be an adaptation of the systematic approach of Grounded Theory. The results suggest the existence of suffering related to working conditions and working organization, especially with regard to sun exposure, animal attack, and potential accidents, as well as health problems related to the activities, total or partial loss of the production and the absence of work due to health problems. The results also point to suffering related to the absence of recognition and to the socio-professional relations with dealers and industries. The confronting strategies that were identified are related to the subjective mobilization through the practical intelligence to guarantee the subsistence during the between-harvest period, capital management, development of new ways of work and knowledge of prudence, the care and live together. Possible defense strategies were identified as well and are related to rationalization, denial and naturalization. Finally, the work in jute and mauve, even if it is painful, presents itself as the possible activity to support the families, the reason why the workers keep resisting amongst suffering.
