Resumo

This text search through comparative literature studies, also taking advantage of aspects of musicology, highlight the relationship between poetry and music in some of the songs of Renato Russo as lyricist and vocalist of Legião Urbana. The songs selected here bring metaphors of language, revealing words on several occasions were judged in a simple and random meaning, turning them into rich interpretations, timeless, from readings that address the political and historical context of Brazil, performing in their verses the image of brazilian youth of the 70s, 80s and 90s of the twentieth century. By this intervention the artist under his interlocutors that occurs today, Ezra Pound defined as “antennae of the race”, since Russo was able to convey what for many go unnoticed, being revealed only to those to be aware of the letter, intonation, change of pace, finally, aspects that only through study and research, would be possible to unravel. Such an attitude in his letters sparked in poetry, it can no longer be classified only by lyrics, but now, letters-poem. The relationship with the society before the prejudice and fear of AIDS, homosexuality and the conflict with the Christian religion are also topics discussed in this dissertation.
