O ruído e suas consequências: um estudo de caso com moradores do entorno da praça do Conjunto Eldorado em Manaus

Abstract

Noise pollution in Brazil has caused many problems in metropolitan areas, which have over one million inhabitants, but also is not subject to effective preventive action by municipalities. The major cause of noise in residential areas is the lack of urban planning in big cities, obviously the traffic noise, airports, and activities cluster in one place will affect all your surroundings, making inappropriate use of these spaces for certain purposes: residences, parks, hospitals, schools, kindergartens, among others.The objective with this work is to point out areas of higher noise incidence in the Eldorado neighborhood and evaluate the existence of irritation and discomfort in residents , who have to deal with noises above 50 decibels. This work was conducted through a study case, using a field research which was developed: mapping the covered areas, urveys, noise measurements and interviews with local residents in order to analyze whether the noise levels cause environment problems or directly surrounding the region of Eldorado Set Square Park in the Parque Dez Neighborhood in Manaus / AM. So for that, measurements were made with Digital Dosimeter, on August 2, 2014 (Saturday) at two times, the first being from 17: 00h to 19: 00h, and the other from 22: 00h to 24: 00h, adding up to a grand total of 798 measurements. Finally, it was found that the average noise levels in the afternoon is 74 dB, and in the evening of 75dB, contacts that are much higher than allowed by the WHO (World Health Organization) considers that a proper level sound up to 50 dB (decibels - the sound measurement unit) not to cause damage to humans. In addition, it was reported by residents that the noise causes discomfort, stress, and irritability in some cases, interference in their everyday work.
