Conflitos fundiários e ambientais no Projeto de Assentamento Extrativista PAE Botos, Município de Humaitá/AM

Resumo

Currently, the Amazon region, especially the municipality of Humaitá, stands out for its economic growth and concentration of deforestation and land, attracting the expansion of livestock and soy farming due to the cheaper price of its land, including in agrarian reform territories. Deforestation is linked to the occupation of land promoted by the private market that has the intensive exploitation of natural resources as its purpose. The research focuses on the south of Amazonas, an area at the edge of deforestation, under pressure from economic groups involved in the exploitation of natural resources due to agribusiness, which ends up intensifying the conflict in rural settlements. The objective of the study is to analyze land conflicts and environmental degradation in PAE Botos, understanding the challenges faced by traditional peoples. The methodology used involved fieldwork for interviews with the community of Pirapitinga, in PAE Botos and analysis of deforestation in this settlement, using secondary spatial data from the National Institute for Space Research. The Pirapitinga community, made up of residents who live in wooden houses with limited access to infrastructure, depends on family farming and extractivism, suffers from low pay and conflicts. Therefore, it is concluded that it is essential to implement effective public policies that respect rural communities, promoting sustainable development and reducing conflicts. Dialogue between peasants and authorities is crucial for social justice and improving living conditions in the countryside.
