Rede de proteção a crianças e adolescentes em situação de violência sexual na cidade de Manaus

Abstract

This paper analyzes the performance of the protection network for children and adolescents in situations of sexual violence in the city of Manaus, considering its dynamics in guaranteeing the rights of children and adolescents. To this end, three specific objectives were outlined: to characterize the institutions and services of the protection network for children and adolescents in situations of sexual violence, to know the perception of professionals regarding the protection network for children and adolescents in situations of sexual violence and to identify the practice of social actors and institutions of the safety net in guaranteeing the rights of children and adolescents in situations of sexual violence. It is a qualitative research, whose technique used was the semi-structured interview. The research subjects are actors of the Protection Network in the city of Manaus: Municipal School Professor Maria Lira Pereira, Service of Assistance to Victims of Sexual Violence (SAVVIS), Lar Batista Janell Doyle, State Committee to Combat Sexual Violence against Children and Adolescents (CEVSCA-AM) and the Second Specialized Court in Crimes against the Sexual Dignity of Children and Adolescents. The survey was conducted in the months of May and June of the current year. It is concluded that the Protection Network has had many limitations regarding the protection of the rights of children and adolescents, among which we can mention the lack of qualification of these professionals and their commitment to guarantee the rights of children and adolescents. Also noteworthy is the lack of financial resources, the lack of professionals and the discontinuity of confrontation actions by the Public Power. In general, the network in Manaus is working. Despite the weaknesses, it is protecting children and adolescents. However, much remains to be done. Most actors in the network are aware of their role in facing sexual violence, there are still many flaws regarding the lack of communication and articulation between the actors involved, leaving the network weakened. It is necessary that the actors of the Network are articulated and strengthened, so that their actions are effective. Despite advances in legislation related to the rights of children and adolescents, there is still much to be achieved in favor of childhood. Working in a network implies professional and government investment, engagement and awareness that joint and articulate work guarantees the confrontation of the phenomenon of violence, and the repair of the rights of those who have been violated. Only in this way, will it be possible to promote practices and overcome the existing weaknesses in the care and protection network for children and adolescents, thus avoiding the setback in care aimed at this population.
