Centralidade urbana em cidades ribeirinhas da Amazônia: Parintins-AM

Abstract

This work aims to analyze and characterize the urban centrality in Parintins, pointing out parameters of relations between the center and urban centrality with the dynamics of the waters; identifying trade and services in specific areas seeking to characterize them as urban centrality. From a bibliographical survey on the subject, documentary survey and persistent field work with observation, interviewing and application of forms, it was possible to identify the mobile centrality from the hydrological regime in the area of the “Lagoa da Francesa” and riverside of the northern part of town for where the waters of the Amazon River flow; the transitory centrality of the Parintins Folk Festival has also been identified, where the Cathedral Square, Oxen Square, Eduardo Ribeiro Square and headquarter of oxen Garantido and Caprichoso are spaces that are re-dimensioned according to the party. As well, the centrality of the Amazonas Avenue was identified, which goes through several stages and consolidates itself as the main route of the city. Finally, the characterization of the center of Parintins and its profile of expansion and at the same time remain as the centrality for concentrating its activities such as commerce and services, but especially for having the harbor as intermediate between the city and the near and distant world. The conclusion is that the riverside town has specificities by its connection with the river as a means of locomotion, with the culture of the place that can’t be left aside, but this alone does not explain the centrality that also has more general dimensions articulated with the reproduction general relations of production that also affect the cities of the Amazon. In this way, the results of this work contribute to the study of urban centrality from the riverside experience in a city that has much of the place, but also of the world and the dynamism of the urban.
