A questão da velhice e suas demandas de saúde em Manaus analisadas pelas discentes do PPGSS/UFAM

Abstract

It is a documentary research in the productions of the Graduate Program in Social Work and Sustainability in the Amazon / UFAM. We take ownership of the literature on old age and health and we seek to unveil how students treat this theme in the academic production of Social Work from PPGSS / UFAM. As a general objective: To analyze the way of approaching and treating the issue of old age and its health demands in Manaus by the authors of the dissertations in the PPGSS. And as specific objectives: • To identify the academic production of PPGSS in the years 2010 to 2019; • analyze the question of old age and health addressed by the researchers; • Reflect on the production of PPGSS essays aimed at old age and health. The methodology used was a qualitative and quantitative approach, such as documentary research. We used 10 (ten) dissertations from that postgraduate program. In order to give theoretical support to research, we have appropriated theoretical references that address the theme. As results, we identified the academic production that addresses old age is in second place of the most worked themes in PPGSS, with Social Assistance being the first. The main discussions brought by the authors deal with the rights of the elderly, social policies, health services, work, among others. Difficulty in access, low resolution and lack of preventive actions are some of the obstacles in health services. They point out that there have been advances in legislation aimed at the elderly population; however, in practice they are still unsatisfactory. The dissertation productions indicate that we need to appropriate more about issues that involve this population segment, developing studies that can contribute to the realization of their rights and thus, can enjoy their years of life in a dignified and healthy way.
