Prospecção tecnológica na Amazônia: uma abordagem sobre usos e aplicações para insumos vegetais

Resumo

The research aimed to demonstrate how the use of technological foresight techniques can assist in identifying the level of development of scientific and technological knowledge for the uses and applications of plant inputs, with the case study of Copaiba (Copaifera). The research employed prospective studies to analyze the scientific and technological development of plant inputs, highlighting the importance of preserving Brazilian biodiversity. Technological foresight techniques were used to map information and knowledge, reduce uncertainties, and identify strategic needs and opportunities for the development of innovative technologies. The study adopted an applied and exploratory approach, using bibliographic and documentary methods. Scientific articles were obtained through the CAPES Periodicals Portal and Web of Science, while patent data were collected on the Orbit Intelligence platform. A total of 154 scientific articles published between 1994 and 2023 were identified, with an average of 6.16 articles per year, indicating a growing and multidisciplinary interest in the topic. Brazilian institutions, such as the University of São Paulo, lead the author affiliations, highlighting the national commitment to technological advancement in the area. Brazil also stands out as the main country of origin for publications, emphasizing local interest in Copaiba applications. The analysis of Copaiba species mentioned in the literature highlights their therapeutic potential, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary research and institutional investment for the sustainable development of plant inputs. The patent survey revealed 149 deposits between 2003 and 2022, with peaks in 2013 and 2019, reflecting a growing interest in innovation. Brazil leads in deposits, followed by Europe, Asia, and the Americas, with large companies and academic institutions actively involved. International Patent Classification categories reveal a focus on medicinal preparations and cosmetics derived from Copaiba, highlighting its therapeutic potential in areas such as dermatology and infectious disease treatments. Copaiba technological foresight highlights diverse approaches in exploring its medicinal and cosmetic properties, driving scientific advancements and promoting awareness of responsible and sustainable practices in the industry. The results highlight Brazil as a key player in this scenario, showcasing its scientific community and innovation incentive policies. However, it is crucial to integrate development and sustainability, respecting biodiversity and traditional knowledge, while investing in research for sustainable alternatives. Thus, technological foresight is a fundamental tool to drive progress in the field of plant inputs, guiding innovative strategies and paving the way for future contributions in this constantly evolving field.
