Resumo
This study aimed to evaluate the effects of tucumã meal inclusion in diets for slow-growing broilers. All stages of this research were conducted at the facilities of the Faculty of Agrarian Sciences of the Federal University of Amazonas, located in the southern sector of the University Campus in Manaus, Amazonas State, Brazil. Before carrying out the experiment, the proximate composition of the tucumã meal was determined. 176 slow-growing broilers Label Rouge were distributed in a completely randomized experimental design, with four treatments constituted by increasing levels of tucumã meal in the diets (0, 5, 10 and 15%), with four replicates with 11 birds each. Broilers received the experimental diets from 1 to 28 days of age followed by a basal diet from 29 to 56 days of age. The performance was evaluated from the eighth to the 56th day. After the last day of the experimental period and a previous 12-hour fast, three birds from each experimental unit (n=48) were randomly selected, identified, weighed and slaughtered for evaluation of carcass yields and commercial cuts. Breast samples of five carcasses from each treatment were collected to evaluate their nutritional content. At the end, the performance data were used to carry out an analysis of the economic viability of the alternative food in broilers feed. For statistical analysis, treatment estimates were submitted to ANOVA, followed by Tukey's test and regression analysis at 0.05. From the results found, it was observed that the inclusion of 15% of tucumã meal in diets at the initial stage for slow-growing broilers Label Rouge in housing did not affect (p>0.05) the feed intake. However, it influenced (p<0.05) the results of weight gain and feed conversion both in the initial and final stages, indicating a possible influence on the use of nutrients in the diet. Despite the linear reduction (p<0.05) in the slaughter weight and in the percentage of available nutrients in the carcass, the increasing inclusion of tucumã meal in the diets provided a higher (p<0.05) carcass and viscera (liver, gizzard and heart) yields. This is reflected in the results of the economic analysis, where the increasing inclusion of tucumã meal in the diets provided broilers with lower (p<0.05) productive efficiency, as verified in the IEP results, in addition to greater (p<0.05) 05) production cost per kg and lower (p<0.05) profitability.
