Resumo
The war between the Mura and Munduruku indigenous societies is the object of study of this
research. These two indigenous societies were against and active in the process of portuguese colonization in the Amazon in the second half of the 18th century. During the period in question, the colonial Amazon was in a situation of permanent conflict, either due to the territorial expansions of the two indigenous groups, Mura and Munduruku through the Amazon, or due to the bellicose confrontation between them and / or the war waged by the indigenous groups against the colonists and Portuguese cities in the Amazon. I try to confirm the hypothesis that: With the arrival of the Portuguese colonizer, the indigenous war undergoes modifications and when incorporating the colonial war, the indigenous societies redefine their war strategies, some to obtain bargaining power and others to form alliances, according to their interests. This work has as main objective to analyze the territorial processes and the wars involving the main characters of the plot, the Muras, the Mundurukus and the Portuguese State in the colonial Amazon. We aimed to investigate a range of documents produced by the colony authorities, travelers' reports and ethnographies about the indigenous war, using the methodology of the evidential paradigm to search for the clues left in the documents and the use of the theoretical perspective of the new indigenous history, so that we can put the Indian as the protagonist of his own history giving him the right to speak. Therefore, we seek to broaden the understanding that the indigenous warrior societies Mura and Munduruku supported each other in the war, as a way to demonstrate their war potential, through their warrior power against the Portuguese colonizer, demonstrating that the construction of the colonial history of Portuguese America
was a product also of the actions of the indigenous populations, mainly because of their wars
practiced as political strategies.
