O protagonismo de mulheres indígenas na percepção dos trabalhadores de assistência social: um estudo em São Gabriel da Cachoeira/AM

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the Social Protagonism of Indigenous Women from the perspective of Social Assistance Workers in the Municipality of São Gabriel da Cachoeira AM. To this end, it was sought to map how the Professionals, programs and projects of the Reference Center for Social Assistance (CRAS) identify the Indigenous Women's Protagonism, as well as to ponder how the particularity in the process of social care of Indigenous Women is effective, to then verify the relationship of the Social Assistance workers in the recognition of female identities. From the methodological point of view, the study was outlined by the method of historical-dialectical materialism, being an exploratory research, with a quanti-qualitative approach, but with emphasis on qualitative data. The study included conducting bibliographic, documentary and field research. The latter is carried out in person by means of a semi-structured interview. The locus of the field research consisted of the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance - SEMAS in particular in its unit of the Social Assistance Reference Center - CRAS, where 10 subjects were interviewed, including social workers, administrative assistants, members of the Municipal Council of Social Assistance. In order to carry out the tabulation of data, the research relied on an analysis of content. The results obtained indicate that the social protagonism of indigenous women in the perception of social assistance workers lies in the dilemmas between the provision of state services and the real effectiveness of social rights; the absence of an indigenous CRAS infrastructure in the municipality; challenge of the understanding of native languages; geographical space of the municipality that distance from the Districts; the set of cultural factors of the place that signal tensions between workers and users, among others. These data allow us to state that in São Gabriel da Cachoeira social assistance is configured with great challenges and limits "rowing against the currents", but also a power that it is possible to rethink the operationalization of this said policy, in the expansion of the social protagonism of its demand.
